Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lady Hawks won their fourth straight game in convincing fashion, this one over the Norfolk State Lady Spartans on Homecoming Day, 87-72 at the Hytche Center.

Tiffany Winkfield led the Lady Hawks with a monster performance, the best game of her career by the stats. The senior recorded a career-high 27 points and career-high-matching 20 rebounds, making this her 14th double-double of the season in 23 games played.

After Dekeisha Thompson gave Norfolk State a 48-42 lead with 18:05 left, UMES went on a 17-0 run over the next 4:45 to take command of the game.

Laconia Hatcher (14 points) and Octavia Thompson (20 points) helped Winkfield to defeat the Lady Spartans.

Despite Thompson's (22 points), Xena Harris (13 points) and Toia Johnson (15 points) leading the Lady Spartans, the team was unable to stop the Lady Hawks.

UMES now prepares for their final home game of the season, Monday night, February 23 against Hampton University. That is also senior night as the Hawks are graduating six seniors. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off in the Hytche Center.
