Chelsea Sanders finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lady Hawks as they fell to Mount St. Mary's 63-44, Tuesday night in the season opener here at W.P. Hytche Athletic Center. The Lady Hawks opened the game with a 10-7 run sparked by a three-pointer from Chelsea Sanders. The Mount began an 18-2 run of their own behind the play of sophomore Jessie Kaufman.

Mount St. Mary's finished the first half with a 33-19 lead, shooting 41.2% (14-34) from the field and 40% (4-10) from behind the arc. The Lady Hawks were held to just 29.6% shooting going 8-27 from the field in the first half.

Kaufman continued to lead the Mount to a 63-44 finish with 19 points and 6 rebounds. The Lady Hawks continued to fight with help from the bench play of sophomore Shanyce Stewart who tallied 11 rebounds. Senior Adobi Agbasi showed her aggressiveness defensively recording 2 blocks but the Mount shot 44.8% (26-58) from the field and 46.7% (7-15) from three-point range to close out the game.

The UMES women's basketball team will look to rebound Thursday, November 17 when they travel to take on perennial Colonial Athletic Association power James Madison at 7:00p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.
