PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Head coach Fred Batchelor has signed three players to play women's basketball at UMES starting next season. Briana Mack, Mariah McCoy and Briana Sye will play for the Lady Hawks starting in the 2013-14 academic year.

All three signed National Letters of Intent in the early period to play for the Maroon and Gray starting next season.

Briana Mack - Forward - Harrisburg, Pa. - Harrisburg H.S.

Mack will don the Maroon and Gray jersey after a strong career at Harrisburg High School along with Class of 2013 teammate Briana Sye. A six-foot forward for the Cougars, Mack is averaging 14.4 points a game this season and has also served as a strong rebounder. In her career she has scored over 500 points, shooting almost 50% as a front court player. Last season, she was named an All-Mid Penn Honorable Mention from the Commonwealth Division in basketball and this year earned Honorable Mention from the Colonial Division in volleyball.

Mariah McCoy - Guard - Rock Hill, S.C. - Northwestern H.S.

McCoy heads north from the state of South Carolina to play for UMES in the upcoming season. A point guard from Northwestern High School, she has earned All-Region the past two seasons as an all-around threat. Last season, McCoy led the Lady Trojans to the second round of the state tournament with a 19-6 record. This year, through Northwestern's first 10 games, she is averaging 11.8 points, five rebounds and 4.8 steals per game for a team currently ranked #18 in the state.

Briana Sye - Guard - Harrisburg, Pa. - Harrisburg H.S.

Sye becomes a Lady Hawk for the 2013-14 season, joining Harrisburg High School teammate Briana Mack in Princess Anne. A Patriot-News Player to Watch this season, Sye is the starting point guard for the Cougars and was a Second Team All-Mid Penn and Patriot-News top-15 player last year. She is an all-around player that has scored over 350 points in her career and has been cited as a strong passer and blocker at the point. In 2012 she played for the AAU U17 Mid-Penn Motion squad, helping tally a 16-0 record for the team.
