PRINCESS ANNE, MD - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) guard Tiffany Reid (Philadelphia, Pa./National Christian Academy) will miss the season after having surgery last month to repair an injury to her left shoulder.

"This is a huge loss for us," said UMES head coach Fred Batchelor. "She is a very talented player and was making such significant strides with our team in the preseason and was ready to make an even bigger impact in games."

The 5-foot-9 Reid averaged 7.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 29 games as a freshman last season. She started 20 consecutive games for the Lady Hawks and was named to the 2005-06 MEAC All-Rookie Team.

"We will miss Tiffany on the court this year and expect her to make a complete recovery in time for the 2007-08 season," added Batchelor.
