Jan. 22, 2007 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - UMES freshman April McBride (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle H.S.) was tabbed as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week, the conference announced today. This is second straight week that McBride has earned Rookie of the Week honors. McBride averaged a double-double of 19 points and 12.5 rebounds, while shooting 54 percent from the field, to help the Lady Hawks to a 1-1 record last week. The 6-1 forward recorded her fourth double-double of the season against Florida A&M with a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. She finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds in a win against Delaware State on Jan. 15. UMES faces off against Bethune-Cookman in a MEAC decision tonight at the Hytche Center. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
