Feb. 8, 2007 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Kristi Veltkamp (Hudsonville, Mich./Lansing Home School) was named to CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District second team for women's basketball on February 8. The selection, the first of Veltkamp's career, was voted on by district II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She currently carries a 3.97 GPA as a Dietetics major. Veltkamp, a 6-3 forward/center, averages 8.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. She swatted a career-high 11 shots on Dec. 9, which is tied for most in Division I this season, and ranks 12th in the NCAA in blocks per game. Veltkamp is a 2006-07 All-MEAC First team selection and was named the 2005-06 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year. Veltkamp and the rest of the Lady Hawks will return to action on February 12 with a conference decision against Delaware State at 5:30pm in Dover, Delaware.
