MEAC Release - Women's Basketball Player of the Week 2-12

NORFOLK, Va. -- Nearly earning two triple doubles in a pair of conference victories over Norfolk State and Morgan State, Adobi Agbasi (Columbus, Ga.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, for the period ending February 12th.

This is Agbasi's first conference weekly award this season and second of her career, earning a MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honor last year.

Agbasi started the week with her second double double against Norfolk State, finishing with career-highs in points with 22, rebounds with 11 and nine blocks. The senior played 42 minutes during the team's 62-58 comeback overtime victory at home over the Lady Spartans.

She followed up that performance with another double double on Saturday, earning 16 points and a new career-high 17 boards. She also blocked seven shots in the 75-57 win against Morgan State in Baltimore.

Currently, Agbasi is fourth in Division I and the MEAC's best in blocked shots per game with 3.6, totaling 76 so far this season. No other MEAC player has more than half Agbasi's total.

In addition, freshman forward Porsha Barr (Waldorf, Md.) was heralded as an "Other Top Performer" for her strong performance against Morgan State, scoring 11 points off 5-8 shooting.

Agbasi and Barr take the court against Coppin State on Monday, February 13th at 5:30 p.m.
