Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Head Women's Basketball Coach, Surina Dixon, is continuing to pile up the accomplishments this season.

Just recently she was asked to serve as a speaker and facilitator at the Women's Basketball Coach's Association annual convention, held this year in conjunction with the Final Four in New Orleans, LA, April 3-6. Dixon will be at a seminar entitled "The Mental Side of the Game," held at the host hotel, the New Orleans Marriott.

"I am excited to be asked back," said Dixon. "It is an honor to work with an organization that I feel does a lot for women's basketball coaches," she added.

In addition Dixon was also named Black Voices Quarterly's [BVQ] Preseason Coach of the Year. "It is quite an honor to be selected as their pre-season coach of the year," Dixon added. "I believe that BVQ usually does a great job with their selections."

Black Voices Quarterly also selected Tiffany Winkfield as a pre-season first team player. They appear to be on track as Winkfield has totaled 14 double doubles in 20 games and ranks 16th in the country in rebounding as of press time. They wrote," All-conference power forward Tiffany Winkfield delivers big-time performances in the paint. Octavia Thompson, All Rookie a season ago, routinely stretches defenses with her 3-point shooting. JUCO transfers Laconia Hatcher, Erica Bennett and Jamilia Griffith are All-MEAC caliber players who bring speed, moxie and attitude."

The same publication also selected Tee Trotter of the men's team a first-team All MEAC player. That also appears to be a good selection as he currently leads the MEAC in conference game scoring.
