PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- When the UMES women's basketball team went to purchase its textbooks for the start of the 2012-13 academic year on Sunday, the players decided to assist their fellow Hawks.

After Fred Batchelor's team bought its textbooks, all the players started pulling the textbooks for all the other UMES student-athletes, helping the bookstore, Neebo Books, set aside those texts for those who suit up in the Maroon and Gray. The Lady Hawks helped the other UMES teams, all 14 of them, with gathering their textbooks for the upcoming semester.

"Neebo books is doing everything they can to accommodate the athletic department in the distribution of textbooks," says UMES Athletics compliance director Neema Connor, "Thanks to all the Neebo workers and the women's basketball team, the athletic department was able to effectively and efficiently distribute out text books to our student-athletes."

UMES is proud to boast the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's highest Graduation Success Rate the past three seasons, and the assistance that Hawks student-athletes give each other is a big part of their success.
