PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Forward/Center Alexis Udoji (Randolph, MA) was selected to the College Sports Madness 2013-14 MEAC Preseason Second Team All-Conference, the announcement came today. Last season, Udoji started 24 of the 27 games played and averaged over 22 minutes per contest. Udoji accumulated a .395 (47-119) field goal percentage while tallying 150 rebounds and 70 blocks.

In her first season of action, Udoji became one of the top defensive players in the MEAC. Udoji averaged 2.6 blocks per game (bpg), which was first in the conference and 19th overall in NCAA Division I. For her efforts, Udoji was named to the All-MEAC Rookie Team after averaging 4.8 points per game (ppg) and 5.6 rebounds per game (rpg). The two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week winner had the second-best shooting-percentage on the team (.395) behind fellow All-MEAC Rookie teammate, Ashleigh Claybrooks (Manassas, VA). Last season, Udoji's best performance came in the road win over Savannah State (3/7/13) where she posted a near triple-double. Udoji finished the contest with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocks.

Other notable preseason mentions include Guard Ezinne Kalu (Norfolk State), Guard Tracy King (North Carolina A&T) Guard/Forward Kyra Coleman (Coppin State), and Forward Terrenisha Hollis (Bethune-Cookman) rounding out the second team. For the first team, Guard Jasmine Grice (Florida A&M), also named MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, Guard Nicole Hamilton (Hampton), Guard/Freshman Tierra Hawkins (Delaware State), Forward Rachel Gordon (Norfolk State), and Forward/Center Alyssa Bennett (Hampton). Hampton's David Six was picked to win MEAC Coach of the Year while Bethune-Cookman's Alea Godfrey was selected to win MEAC Freshman of the Year.
