ASHLEIGH CLAYBROOKS EARNS MEAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has announced that UMES freshman forward Ashleigh Claybrooks has been selected as the conference's Rookie of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
This is UMES's second MEAC weekly women's basketball award this season. Three weeks ago, Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) also earned MEAC Rookie of the Week.
Claybrooks (Manassas, Va.) had strong performances in two games this week for UMES, including helping the Lady Hawks defeat Towson on Saturday.
She finished the week shooting over 42%, concluding with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She had a near double double against Mount St. Mary's with 11 points and nine boards, following up with nine points and three steals vs. Towson.
In addition, Karona Roach (Bear, Del.) and Udoji were recognized as "Other Top Performers" this week by the MEAC. Roach scored 20 points, a career-high, against Mount St. Mary's, while Udoji scored six points, grabbed six boards and blocked six shots against Towson.
Claybrooks, Udoji, Roach and the Lady Hawks will next play in Jacksonville on Friday, taking on Campbell at 1 p.m. for the Lady Osprey Holiday Classic.
