NORFOLK, Va. - For the second time this season, Lady Hawks center Alexis Udoji has been honored as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) now has two conference weekly awards, first earning MEAC Rookie of the Week for the period ending on November 19th. As a team, UMES has three women's basketball Rookie of the Week honors this season, including one for Ashleigh Claybrooks (Manassas, Va.) three weeks ago, more than any other conference school.

Udoji is just the second MEAC player this season to earn a pair of conference rookie of the week honors along with Amber Neely of North Carolina Central.

The freshman was a strong defensive player for UMES this week, grabbed a combined 17 rebounds in two games in the Terrapin Classic in College Park. Her 12 rebounds against Brown was a personal career-high and a team-best this season, adding five points and a pair of blocks. In her first game against Hartford, she grabbed five rebounds.

Currently, Udoji stands second in the MEAC in blocked shots per game with 1.8 per contest, totaling 22 this season.

Udoji and the Lady Hawks will next play on January 12th when MEAC play resumes, taking on Norfolk State at the Hytche Athletic Center at 2 p.m.
