The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is proud to announce that Tyler Schmitz, a native of Green Bay, Wisc., has been named the new Assistant Women's Bowling Coach for the Lady Hawks for the 2012-13 season. Schmitz brings a plethora of experience with him to the Hawks' coaching staff. A former collegiate standout at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, he participated in five consecutive USBC Junior Gold Championships from 2005-09 and has bowled ten career 300 games. At UW-Whitewater, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player twice and led the team to the Intercollegiate Team Championships in 2007. He was named an All-Academic recipient in 2007 and now bowls professionally. Schmitz, who was already working with the program last season as an academic advisor, has a vast knowledge of lane play and lane conditions. Having already been involved in the program, the team is already comfortable with him and takes to his teachings well. "I am thrilled that Tyler is coming on board to help us," said Interim Head Coach Kristina Frahm. "Luckily, Tyler was here, knows the very high expectations of our program, how we operate and has the skill set to step in and be a factor as a coach right away." He currently resides in Salisbury, Md. In his spare time, he enjoys watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. |
