Orlando, Fla. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Bowling team regrouped on Friday morning to come out strong. Unfortunately, they ran into an even stronger team in the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). UMES was downed 4-1 and move on to take on Central Missouri State University (CMSU) later today. CMSU, the three seed, was defeated by six seed New Jersey City University (NJCU) 4-3.

In game one the Baker format team of Maryetta Lewis, Megan Raymond, Erin Fagan, Sandra Maresca and Jessica Worsley looked a little sluggish, falling 224-193. They regrouped to fall by just five pins in game two, 195-190 despite the strong rolling of the lead-off bowler Lewis and the anchor Worsley.

In game three UMES got on the board, rolling a 220 to FDU's 209 and cutting into the best four of seven lead. Entering game four UMES saw the 220 flipped on them as they managed 213. It would have been a win for the Hawks but a much needed strike was not converted in the eighth and they fell by seven pins.

Down three games to one the Hawks let another slip away, falling 212-189.

They have to now take on CMSU who, down three games to one, came back to tie the Gothic Knights of NJCU at three games, but fell 4-3. That match will be later on today with the loser being eliminated and the winner moving on in the consolation bracket.

In other round one action Nebraska defeated Fayetteville State 4-0 and Sacred Heart defeated Bethune-Cookman 4-1.
