Millsboro, Del. - The Lady Hawks cruised to eight wins this past weekend at a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) northern division bowling match-up at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, Del.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) opened the event on Saturday, November 4, 2006 with five head to head matches. The Hawks knocked off Coppin State (986-641), Howard (916-762), Morgan State (1074-917), Hampton (941-864) and Delaware State (901-887) to start their season 5-0.

Freshman sensation Marion Singleton led the way for UMES rolling a high game of 257 against Morgan State. She also had the highest total pinfall of the day, tallying 1,055 pins over the five games. She added two more games over 200 as well, a 234 and a 202. Senior Christine King had the most 200 games as she rolled up a 206, 204 and two 210s along with a 170 in five games for 1,000 total pins.

Michelle Wallace had a 225, Laura Zanrucha a 212 and reigning MEAC MVP Jessica Worsley added a 213 and a 212. All in all the Hawks had 11 games over 200.

On day two of the event the Hawks bowled Baker matches and picked up wins over Howard (818-601), Coppin State (764-489) and Hampton (844-609). Their lone loss came in the final match of the event, to Delaware State, 817-711.

UMES improves to 8-1 on the season and bowls again this weekend in another MEAC northern division match-up, this time in Washington D.C.
