St. Louis, Mo. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore finished 12th overall at the 2004 Women's Bowling National Collegiate Team Match Games as they rolled a total score of 8,590 with an average of 848. They went 19-8 overall and 5-2 in NCAA matches on the weekend. They placed second out of the varsity entries. They opened day one of the event splitting four matches, knocking off 2003 IBC Champion Central Missouri State, 886-885 and defeating Grambling State 880-703. They fell to a tough Minnesota State-Mankato team 940-846 and to Southern University 767-802. Individually Erin Fagan rolled a 613 series and the high game on day one of 209. On day two the Hawks got it in gear and swept three opponents. They started by knocking off MEAC foe North Carolina A & T 853-768, continued by beating Arkansas State University 868-787, and finished off the day beating Louisiana Tech University 860-720. On the last day freshman sensation Jessica Worsley had the high series with a 567 and senior Ariel Givens had the high game with a 223. Erin Fagan also was strong with a 527 series. "We had a pretty solid outing," said Head Coach Sharon Brummell. "We beat some teams that beat us earlier and went 5-2 in NCAA matches. We saw some really good teams and took second in the varsity division, overall I am pleased." The Hawks improved their record to 67-12 in NCAA competition. UMES if off for almost a month, bowling after the Christmas holiday on the 27 and 28 of December at the 17th Annual Colgate Invitational in Stratford, N.J. and then later on the 28 and 29 at the NCAA Holiday Jamboree in Maple Shade, N.J.
