HACKENSACK, N.J. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Bowling team held on to their third place ranking in the latest National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, released last week. The Lady Hawks boast an impressive 51-12 record overall and are 16-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). They proudly sport a .810 winning percentage, the highest in the conference.

This is the second poll in a row that UMES has been ranked third, their highest ranking ever. Since the last poll, UMES took third place finishes in the Jeanette Lee Invitational and in the FDU Holiday Jamboree where they amassed an overall record of 20-6 in those two events.

The Lady Hawks collected 477 points in the poll, voted on by members of the NTCA, 95 points out of second place. Their showings in the last month earned them 49 more points then they had received in the previous poll.

The University of Nebraska was ranked first with 587 points while Vanderbilt, the defending National Champions, was second with 572 points. UMES was the runner-up to Vanderbilt in last year's NCAA Championship.

The Hawks are back in action this weekend bowling in a MEAC Northern Division match-up hosted by Hampton University on January 19-20.
