NORFOLK, Va. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) freshman left-hander Victoria Jones (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the conference's Bowling Athlete of the Week, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced today.

Jones, who had been used in limited action so far this season, got a chance at the Mid-Winter Classic and made the most of it. The southpaw found her line in a field of few lefties and averaged a 212.6 over five team games with four over 200 for a total of 1,063 pins.

She tallied a career high 257 in a loss to host Arkansas State and earned All-Tournament Team honors with the third highest average in the event. Jones was one of three women in the field of 128 to average above a 210 on the day.

Jones also saw action in all of day three's Baker games, topping No. 5 Sam Houston State twice and just barely falling to No. 8 Nebraska to clinch a fifth place overall finish after being seeded sixth. The team went 7-6 overall and improved to 44-15 on the year.

Jones and the Hawks head to Brooklyn, N.Y. today for the New Year's Knockdown, hosted by Saint Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday and Sunday.
