UMES' MARIA RODRIGUEZ IS NAMED MEAC BOWLER OF THE WEEK

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Bowling Team picked up their fifth nod of the season for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Athlete of the Week. This week it belonged to newcomer Maria Rodriguez who, bowling in her first collegiate meet, averaged a 204 to pace UMES to a 6-0 mark in team games.

The Hawks finished the Lady Bulldogs Classic with a 9-2 mark with Rodriguez bowling in all 11 games. Six were team games and Rodriguez averaged a 204 while totaling 1,224 pins. She had four games over 200, including a 236 in a 1052-822 rout of #20 Bowie State.

As a team, UMES tallied 10,028 pins.

Rodriguez joins fellow Lady Hawks Sara DiScioscia, Jessica Worsley and Kristina Frahm (who won twice), as MEAC winners this season.
