PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Head Women's Bowling Coach Sharon Brummell has announced that sophomore bowler Laura Zanrucha has returned to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Bowling Team.

Zanrucha missed about one month of the season but returned to the team once she returned to school for the spring semester and met with Brummell.

"Laura is a very talented young lady who can really help us succeed," said Brummell. "She made a mistake, as many young people do. She came to regret the decision she made, apologized to the team and to me and helped us understand her situation. She has made her amends and I welcome her back with open arms. She deserves this chance to compete in a sport she truly loves and continue her education here at the University."

Zanrucha left in the middle of her sophomore campaign for the Lady Hawks and was one of the Hawks many talented bowlers. Just this season Zanrucha was averaging a 198 after four events and had a high game of a 257. She earned Tournament MVP honors in the Hawks last event, the Le Tiger Classic in Houston Texas.

Zanrucha was also named an Academic All-American and an All-Region Honorable Mention last season. She averaged a 181 in her freshman season.

She may return to the lanes as early as this weekend at the Capital Classic in Dover, Del.
