UMES' KRISTIE LOPEZ EARNS FIRST EVER MEAC BOWLER OF THE WEEK
Feb. 19, 2013
NORFOLK, Va. - For the eighth time this season, a University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) bowler has garnered Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekly bowling athlete of the week honors. This week, freshman Kristie Lopez earned her first ever award and became the fourth different Hawk bowler to win the award this year.
Lopez (5-8, Sr., Ponce, Puerto Rico) averaged a 211.4 with 1,057 total pins at the James Brown Invitational to finish fourth in the field individually and earn All-Tournament Team honors. She rolled three 200-plus games out of five, including a 259 in a win over Fayetteville State. Lopez's efforts aided Maryland Eastern Shore to its seventh first-place finish at a meet this season.
UMES is now off until March when they will compete in a conference divisional match-up.
