VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - For the second time this season the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Maria Rodriguez has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Athlete of the Week. The freshmen sensation was second in the field of 106 bowlers at the Holiday Bowl Classic in Bessemer, Ala.

Her second place finish earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She knocked down 2,235 pins in 10 games for an average of an amazing 223.5. She had seven games over 200 in ten tries with a high of 259 in a win over #9 Alabama A&M, 1012-981.

As a team, the second ranked Lady Hawks went 9-1 in the event, took third based on pin fall and knocked off #1 Nebraska and #3 Vanderbilt along the way.

UMES now looks for a third straight MEAC title in two weeks in Norfolk, Va.
