HACKENSACK, N.J. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Bowling Team fell to eighth in the current National Tenpins Coaches Association poll, just released for the month of March. The team was previously ranked fifth in the February poll but is still in the top eight teams, the same number invited each year to the NCAA Tournament.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, two-time NCAA national champions, received all fourteen first place votes to remain as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in the second 2005-2006 national poll, conducted by the National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA). The NTCA is the voice and leadership of NCAA bowling programs.

The Huskers, who own a 51-6 win-loss record in NCAA head-to-head matches, have won every tournament they have entered this season, including the Mid-Winter Classic (Jonesboro, AR), Morgan State Invitational (Perry Hall, MD), and the Alabama A&M Holiday Bowl Classic (Bessemer, AL) since the past NTCA poll.

Fairleigh Dickinson University of Teaneck, NJ, maintained the second place ranking. Since the last poll, the Knights (68-12) have captured the North East Women's Bowling Conference championship for the third straight season and finished second at the Morgan State Invitational.

Preserving the third and fourth place rankings are Central Missouri State University of Warrensburg, MO, and New Jersey City University of Jersey City, NJ, respectively. The CMSU Jennies hold a 64-14-1 and took third place at the Mid-Winter Classic since the past poll. The NJCU Gothic Knights are 59-22-1 and have taken second place in the North East Women's Bowling Conference and third place in the Morgan State Invitational during the last month of competition.

Vanderbilt University of Nashville, TN climbed to the fifth place ranking. The Commodores, only in their second season of existence, are 44-29 and during the latest polling period have had strong finishes at the Morgan State Invitational (4th place) and the Alabama A&M Holiday Bowl Classic (2nd place).

Rounding out the top ten are the University of Alabama A&M of Huntsville, AL (27-10-2); Bethune-Cookman College of Daytona Beach, FL (52-14); the University of Maryland - Eastern Shore of Princess Anne, MD (62-34); Arkansas State University of Jonesboro, AR (51-32-3); and Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA (46-26-1).

This poll is the second installment of three national polls, scheduled to be conducted for the 2005-2006 season. The next poll will be released during the first week of April. The following is a list of ranked teams for the second 2005-2006 NTCA national poll:
