UMES BOWLING IS THIRD IN FINAL NTCA MEDIA POLL

NASHVILLE - On the eve of the NCAA Championships the National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) released their media poll. In the final poll of the season the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is ranked third, mirroring the coach's poll ranking.
Arkansas State University maintained its No. 1 ranking in the poll while Nebraska took sole possession of second place in the poll. They just squeaked out the position over the Hawks by four points. Nebraska earned 218 points while UMES had 214. Arkansas State had 256 points in first and collected all eight first-place votes.
The University of Central Missouri is in fourth place while Fairleigh Dickinson is in fifth place. Vanderbilt is in sixth place while Sam Houston State sits in seventh place. Those seven teams were all selected to the NCAA Championships. The eighth and final team selected, Wisconsin-Whitewater was in a three-way tie for eighth place in the poll with Stephen F. Austin and Saint Francis University (Pa.)
Also in the poll was 13th place North Carolina A&T and 16th place Delaware State and 19th place Norfolk State, all representing the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
UMES starts bowling the seven qualifying matches tomorrow at the NCAA Championships, looking for their sixth National title.
