PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Winning a National Championship is no small feat. Head Coach Sharon Brummell and the Lady Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) know the hard work they put into winning the 2008 NCAA Women's Bowling National Championship and are very proud of their accomplishment. They aren't the only ones. The University and the Town of Princess Anne are set to honor the team for their accomplishments on Friday, May 2, at 10:45 a.m. at a community celebration of excellence to be held in the arena of the William P. Hytche Center on the campus of UMES.

The event will feature special presentations by the University and Town, including the presenting of the "key to the city" by Princess Anne dignitaries and commissioners. UMES President Thelma B. Thompson, Ph.D, Princess Anne Town Manager Jay Parker, the one and only Harry the Hawk and UMES Cheerleaders will be on hand for the event, and of course so will the UMES Bowling Team and coaches.

Magic 98.9 will be there broadcasting live and filling the arena with music while a replay of the National Championship match will also be playing. Friends and fans arriving early will get a chance to meet the team and get their autograph on this season's team poster.

This event is open to the public and the media. Members of the media should RSVP to the UMES Media Relations office by calling 410-651-6499.

Fans of local sports will also not want to miss Thursday night, May 1, and the Delmarva Shorebirds game as the UMES Women's Bowling Team will be honored there in a pre-game ceremony and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
