NASHVILLE, TN - The honors keep rolling in for the Lady Hawks Bowling Team. After placing four players on the All-Region team and having Maryetta Lewis named an All-American, the National Tenpin Coaches Association announced that four University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) bowlers are Academic All-Americans.

Maryetta Lewis, Christine King, Jamie Culbreth and Laura Zanrucha all were named to the team. They join 42 others NCAA student-athletes as Academic All-Americans for the 2005-2006 academic year. A minimum 3.40 grade point average for the fall semester was required to make the team.

Lewis recently graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice and a 3.8 GPA while King, a junior, holds a 3.59 GPA in Sociology. Culbreth and Zanrucha are freshman who maintain a 3.6 in Hotel and Restaurant Management and a 4.0 in English Education respectively.

"What great news," said Head Coach Sharon Brummell. "We have been getting a lot of [good news] lately and I could not be happier. Especially with Academic All-Americans, we do this to get our student-athletes an education first and foremost and to see them excel athletically and academically makes me very proud to be their coach."

The Lady Hawks are coming off of a great season with two post season National Championship appearances and a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title.
