PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Head Coach Sharon Brummell wants another National Championship. The taste of the title in 2008 was sweet and now the bitterness of a seventh place finish in 2009 is the only flavor left in the mouths of the Hawks. So what is a team to do when they want to get back on top? They try to replicate that wonderful season, from the team, right down to the schedule.

Brummell has released her 2009-10 schedule and it looks very similar to that of the championship year. Thiteen events are identical and of the three that aren't, only one is completely different from the championship season. UMES opens, like they did last season at the FDU Fright Knight Invite on October 31. While it isn't the same opening as the 2007-08 campaign it is a similar event as UMES bowled on the same lanes that season in the Holiday Jamboree.

The other two events, one being the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesboro Ark., January 15-17 , takes them to the same state they went to that year when they attended the Lady Indian Invitational. Lastly, the Kutztown Invitational on January 30-31 is the only event completely different than that the 07-08 season. It isn't a bad thing though, UMES had a 7-4 mark in that event last year.

"I think it is a competitive schedule," said Brummell. "I wanted to travel to events that gave us the best shot of seeing good team, while doing well. We need to know our competition but also know how to win. We were on top of the world after out title, now we have forgotten what it feels like to be the best. This schedule should allow us to be successful and to do it against quality competition."

Other events include three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division match-ups, November 7-8 at Hampton, November 14-15 at Delaware State and December 5-6 in Baltimore, Md.

UMES also hosts the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic at Millsboro Lanes, in Millsboro, Del. November 20-22 for the fourth consecutive year.

Other events include the Capital Classic in Dover, Del., the Morgan State Invitational in Perry Hall, Md. and the Holiday Classic in Bessemer, Ala., all in February. They will also bowl in the ECAC Championships in East Brunswick, N.J.

UMES will look to repeat as event champions in the Lady Bulldog Classic in Bowie, Md., January 23-24.

UMES will bowl two-non-NCAA events, although they will surely see NCAA teams there. One is the National Collegiate Team Match Games, November 27-28 in St. Louis, Mo. and the USBC Sectional Qualifier, which UMES won last year, in Allentown, Pa. in early March.

The hunt for a fifth MEAC title takes place in Greensboro, N.C. March 19-21 and the Hawks plan on being back in the NCAA Championships for a seventh consecutive year April 8-11 in East Brunswick, N.J.
