Nov. 3, 2008 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore Maria Rodriguez (Ibague Tolima, Colombia) has been named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Athletes of the Week for the period ending Nov. 2. Rodriguez, of the women’s bowling team, helped lead the No.1 Hawks to wins over Sacred Heart, Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Adelphi, St. Peter’s, Kutztown and Wisconsin-Whitewater at FDU’s Fright Night Invite. Rodriguez, a second team NTCA All American a season ago, had the third highest average of the event, earning a spot on the all-tournament team. She bowled five games with an average of 223.40, while taking out 1,117 pins. UMES (6-7) is back in action Nov. 8-9, at the MEAC Northern Division matches in Washington, D.C.
