VALERIE RIGGIN NAMED MEAC BOWLER OF THE WEEK

NORFOLK, Va. - For the first time ever in her collegiate career, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) sophomore Valerie Riggin (Vista, Calif.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Bowling Athlete of the Week. Riggin led UMES to a 9-1 mark in their first event of the year, a first place finish in the MEAC Northern Division meet.
Riggin was stellar, averaging a 206 and recording a 1,030 pinfall over five games. She tallied three games over 200, including a 220 in the win over Coppin State. Riggin also bowled in four of the Baker games for the Hawks.
She will lead UMES into her first ever Eastern Shore Hawk Classic next weekend. The event, sponsored by Hammer Bowling, is the eighth annual event and features 18 collegiate bowling teams, including 13 of the top 20 teams as ranked by the National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA).
