NORFOLK, Va. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) junior standout Megan Buja (Rockford, Ill.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 2, 2012 the conference announced. She is the third different Hawk this season to earn the award.

Buja averaged a 241 and recorded a pinfall of 1,205 at the second MEAC Northern Divisional meet last weekend. She led her Hawks to a 10-0 mark, extending the nations' top team's record to 30-3 overall and 19-1 in conference.

She recorded a 248 high game in a win over Morgan State.

Buja is the third Hawk this season to earn the honor in as many weeks. Valerie Riggin (Vista, Calif.) and Anggie Ramirez (Bogota, Colombia) won the last two weeks respectively.

The Hawks don't return to the lanes until January 19, 2013 when they travel to Brooklyn, N.Y. for the Terrier's New Year Knockdown.

Buja shares the honor this week with Norfolk State's Thea Aspiras who averaged a 240.8 and 963 pinfall at the MEAC Southern Divisional meet last week. She aided the Spartans to a 7-1 mark and first place finish overall. Aspiras bowled high of 257 in a win over North Carolina A&T.
