March 4, 2006 BURLINGTON, N.C. 0 Jenny Clohan pitched a complete game allowing only two hits while Sally Smith went 2-for-2 with four RBI's as the James Madison softball team shut down the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lady Hawks by a score of 11-0 Friday afternoon in game two of the Elon Phoenix Classic. Amber Kirk hustled out an inside the park home run to lead off the game for JMU. Jenn Chavez followed Kirk with a triple down the left field line and would later come around to score on an RBI single by Katie George to push the Dukes' lead to 2-0. JMU continued to add to its lead in the bottom of the first inning as Sally Smith drove in Megan Smith and George with a double to right center to make it 4-0 in favor of the Dukes. With UMES unable to muster any offense the Dukes continued to increase their lead. Whitney Eye added a pinch hit RBI double in the bottom of the third inning while Katie Schray tacked on another run for the Dukes with her second pinch hit home run of the season, a solo shot, in the bottom of the fourth. Clohan finished with seven strike outs over four innings pitched while allowing only two hits to UMES first basemen Jenille Edwards. In the first game of the day, the Lady Hawks fell in a 15-0 decision to host Elon. UMES will be back in action Saturday in the second day of the Elon Pheonix Classic tournament.
