LEXINGTON, S.C. The UMES Lady Hawks fell in a 7-0 decision against S. Carolina State (SCSU) to open play at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Roundup.

SCSU (4-24, 1-6 MEAC) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom first when Cidney Chester crossed the plate for the Lady Bulldogs. S. Carolina State plated three more in third when Chester, Felicia Hemphill and Emerald Freeman each scored for SCSU.

The Lady Bulldogs put up one more in the third and two in the sixth when Shanika Mitchell's double sent Chester and Tifanie Lewis home.

Charlotte Ngondi, Jenille Edwards and Kristen Greenwood each picked up one hit for UMES (3-25, 0-9 MEAC) in the loss. Chester finished 2-3 with three runs and one RBI for SCSU.

The Lady Hawks are back in action tomorrow, April 8, when they take on Bethune-Cookman in a 10:00 am matchup. UMES battles Florida A&M in a 2:00 pm later that afternoon.
