Princess Anne, MD - The UMES softball team fell twice to the Delaware State Hornets in a MEAC doubleheader, losing 8-0 and 15-0 shutouts at UMES Field. Tracie Slate pitched a no-hitter for the Hornets (25-17, 4-0 MEAC) in the five-inning first game, while Jessica Murray held the Hawks (1-26, 0-6 MEAC) to only one hit in game two.
Slate was brilliant in the first game, striking out seven while walking only two in collecting the no-hitter. Murray fanned eight Hawk batters in game two and walked only one. Leslie Aitkenhead collected the only UMES hit of the day, a first inning single off Murray.
