Box Score

The UMES softball team dropped a pair of close games to the Howard University Bison in a MEAC doubleheader at Banneker Field, falling 6-2 and 2-1 in two seven-inning contests.

The Hawks (1-28, 0-8 MEAC) were done in by the pitching of Howard's Posey sisters, as Krissy Posey held UMES to one earned run in game one, while Kelly Posey held the Hawks to no earned runs in game two for the Bison (9-17, 3-7 MEAC).

Lindsay Poss and Marlee Johnson each collected two hits on the day for the Hawks, while pitcher Christina Mason allowed only six earned runs in 12 total innings pitched. UMES has now lost 24 straight contests. These were the first games of the season for new assistant coach Kirkland Hall, who joined the team earlier in the week to assist head coach Barbara Hicks.
