The UMES softball team snapped a 25-game losing skid with a 10-2 drubbing of the Morgan State Bears in the second game of a MEAC doubleheader at Lois T. Murray Field. The Bears (12-18, 7-5 MEAC) won the first game by the score of 2-1.

Marlee Johnson, Sarah Whitfield and Christina Mason each collected two hits and an RBI for the Hawks (2-29, 1-9 MEAC) in the five-inning game two victory, while Lindsay Poss scored three runs and drove one in. Mason allowed only two runs and five hits in five innings on the mound to earn the win. The Hawks had not won since March 7th, when they picked up their first victory of the season against the same Morgan State team.

In game one, Mason allowed only one earned run in six strong innings but Morgan's Keyana Smith held them to one run on three hits in seven innings. Johnson had two of those three Hawk hits, and for the day went 4-7 with two RBI and a run scored.
