The Delaware State Hornets thumped the UMES softball team in both games of a MEAC doubleheader at the Hornets Nest, beating the Hawks by scores of 29-1 and 14-0 in two five-inning contests. The Hornets (35-19, 14-2 MEAC) totaled 43 runs on the day to go along with 30 hits.

Rena Bishop started game one on the mound for the Hawks (4-35, 3-15 MEAC) and struggled throughout, allowing all 29 runs (26 earned) on 20 hits in four innings pitched. She walked 16 batters and struck out one in her first pitching appearance of the season. In game two, Leslie Aitkenhead allowed 14 runs in four innings, but only four them were earned.

Bishop and Aiktenhead each collected a pair of hits on the day to lead the Hawks offense, while Bishop scored the team's lone run.
