Lake Buena Vista, FL - Latronda Anderson and Adia Dial combined on a three hit shutout, while Dial went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored, leading N.C. A&T to a 6-0 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore in first round action of the 2004 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, held at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.

Anderson (9-22) took control of the game on the mound early for the Lady Aggies, seeded #3 in the Southern Division. She struck out seven of the 14 batters she faced and retired 11 in a row after a first inning walk. Dial relieved her in the fifth inning and had similar success, striking out three batters and allowing three hits in three innings pitched for her first collegiate save.

The Lady Aggies scored in each of the first five innings to build their lead. Lorraine Geiger hit an RBI single in the first, teammate Sibol Loftin hit another RBI single in the second, and Dial beat out a bunt single to score a run in the third. UMES, the Northern Division's #6 seed, committed three of their four errors in the fourth and fifth innings, which led to three Lady Aggie runs.

Christina Brock hit a pair of singles and Gerri Crockett scored twice for the Lady Aggies, who will play Northern Division #2 seed Hampton University in the winner's bracket tonight at 6:30 PM.

Crissy Mason (5-38) took the loss for the Lady Hawks, allowing six runs (one earned) on nine hits, with eight strikeouts and seven walks. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate for UMES, who will play in the loser's bracket round at 12:00 Noon on Friday.
