Lake Buena Vista, FL - The South Carolina State University Lady Bulldogs (14-28) eliminated the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Lady Hawks (5-40), Friday afternoon with a 10-3 win. The Lady Bulldogs put the contest away early scoring five runs in the first inning.

SCSU sophomore pitcher Donisha Johnson went 2-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored and three RBI, including a two-run home run in the first inning. Junior catcher Latihma Warrell added two RBI on 2-for-3 hitting with three runs scored and two RBI.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first inning, but were answered by a two-run second inning by UMES the leave SCSU on top, 5-3 after the first two innings of play. However, the Lady Hawks would go scoreless for the rest of the contest.

SCSU would add to their lead with a three-run fourth inning, followed by a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of play.

UMES shortstop Lindsay Poss led the way for the Lady Hawks, going 3-for-4 from the plate. Jen Wilson went 2-for-3 with an RBI. UMES second baseman, Rena Bishop was 1-for-3 with an RBI as well.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs stay alive to face the Norfolk State University Lady Spartans who eliminated Coppin State College with a 3-2 extra inning win earlier in the day.

Lady Bulldogs pitcher, Jahkesha Abraham got the win, improving to 5-14 while Christina Mason took the loss falling to 5-34. Despite the loss Mason was solid, striking out seven batters.

The loss marks the end of the career of four senior players, Sarah Whitfield and Rena Bishop, both who played all four years for the Lady Hawks, and Lesley Aitkenhead and Ckyla Grays who transferred into the program.
