April 17, 2006 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) freshman Kendra Saunders was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week on April 17. Saunders averaged .385 with two RBI's, including a double and a homerun, in six games last week. The infielder from Mississauga, Canada hit a solo home run, her eighth homer of the season, against Hampton on April 16. She also tallied 13 assists and 12 putouts. Saunders and the Lady Hawks visits Drexel on April 20 for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
