May 5, 2006 Greensboro, N.C. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced last evening at the 2006 Softball Banquet the year's All-Conference selections. Earning a spot on the list was The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Jenille Edwards who was named to the second-team. Edwards, a 5-7 senior from Brampton, Ontario Canada, had a solid season for the Lady Hawks playing several positions, mostly first base. She hit a whopping .374, leading the Hawks. Edwards played and started 44 of UMES' 47 games, scoring 12 runs and knocking in 18 RBI (2nd on the team). Edwards also had a team high 43 hits, 12 for doubles, one triple and three long balls. She had a .548 slugging percentage. On the field she tallied a .951 fielding percentage. "Jenille, had a great season for us," said Head Coach Kirkland Hall. "She is a very good player and was a joy to watch play." UMES finished the season with a 5-43 mark, finishing in 11th place in the MEAC. Maggie Wolfe of Hampton earned MEAC Player of the Year honors while Florida A & M's (FAMU) Veronica Wiggins was Coach of the Year. FAMU's Tiffany Johnson was the Rookie of the Year.
