MORGAN KING NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
May 10, 2012
Princess Anne, Md. -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference released its annual all-conference softball list Wednesday. On that list was the University of Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Morgan King. King was announced to the MEAC All-Conference Second Team as a utility player. She was the only Hawk named to the first or second team lists.
King was also announced to the 2012 College Madness All-Conference Second Team earlier in the week as an infielder. She has played multiple positions this season, but finished her first year as the team's catcher. Offensively, King had the Hawks best batting average (.330), led the team with two homeruns and had a team best nine doubles. In the Hawks most recent series with Delaware State, King blasted two doubles to centerfield in separate games.
She had her best game of the season against South Carolina State, where she hit .400 on the day. She went 3-of-4 at the plate, scored two runs and had a run batted in. King finishes the season with 20 RBIs in 29 hits.
King's contribution to the team was invaluable. Head coach Sam Douglas honored King as the Hawks Rookie of the Year in the athletic department's annual awards banquet.
