THE LADY HAWKS REVEAL THEIR 2014 SOFTBALL SCHEDULE

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – One day after releasing their 2013 fall ball schedule, the softball team revealed their 2014 spring schedule featuring three tournaments including tournaments hosted by conference rivals, North Carolina A&T and Hampton. The Lady Hawks are scheduled to play 45 games including 11 home games at Hawks Field.

In February, the softball team will begin their 2014 campaign in Charleston, SC where they will compete in the Charles Southern University Tournament. The three-day tournament (Feb. 7th – 9th) will feature teams, such as University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNC-Wilmington), Elon University, and Charleston Southern University. Two weeks later, the Lady Hawks will travel to Greensboro, NC to participate in the North Carolina A&T Tournament (Feb. 21st – 23rd), then the following weekend head to Hampton, VA to play in the Hampton Lady Pirates Classic (Feb. 28th – Mar. 2nd).

In March, the team will face the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in a home-and-home matchup. The Lady Hawks will travel to Baltimore (Mar. 7th) for a doubleheader, then the team will host the Retrievers (Mar. 9th) for a doubleheader, which will be the first two home games of the season. Three days later, the Lady Hawks will host the University of Rhode Island (Mar. 12th) for a single game, then head down to Durham, NC for two days (Mar. 15th – 16th) to face conference foe North Carolina Central in a three-game series. Next, the team will travel to Savannah, GA to square off against Savannah State (Mar. 18th) in a doubleheader, then head to Orangeburg, SC to face the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State University (Mar. 20th). Two days later, the Lady Hawks return home for a three-game series against Howard (Mar. 22nd – 23rd), then end the month on the road against Coppin State (Mar. 29th – 30th) for another three-game series.


 

 

In April, the team will begin their longest home stand of the season (five) versus Delaware (Apr. 2nd) in a doubleheader followed by Norfolk State (Apr. 4th – 5th) in a three-game series. Two weeks later (Apr. 19th – 20th), the Lady Hawks will travel to Hampton, VA for a second time this season to face the Lady Pirates of Hampton University in a three-game series. Three days later (Apr. 23rd), the team will travel to Fairfax, VA to battle George Mason University in a doubleheader. Next, the Lady Hawks will face Morgan State (Apr. 26th – 27th) in a three-game series, then wrap-up the regular season on the road versus Delaware State (May 5th).

Four days later (May 8th), the team will compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament for an opportunity to compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament. The three-day tournament (May 8th – 10th) will be held in Ormond Beach, FL.
