UMES WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS MATCH AGAINST TOWSON IN SALISBURY

SALISBURY, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Towson University on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks were swept in both singles and doubles play by the Tigers. UMES (0-2) recieved points in both of its matches in which senior Solana McMillan (Teaneck, N.J.) was involved in. The senior lost 6-0, 6-1 to Ioana Aprodu in No. 1 singles play, before the Hawks were swept by Towson (6-2) the rest of the way. McMillan teamed up with sophomore Enjoli Simmons (Baltimore, Md.), as the pair fell, 8-1, to Aandria Carr and Ayana Dow in No. 1 doubles. The rest of the action for the Hawks was seen by sophomore Arshelle Jackson (Easton, Md.), senior Anna Katenta (Germantown, Md.) , junior Raveena Sharma (Fruitland, Md.) and Alisha Belt. The four teamed up to fill out singles play and combined as the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles squads. The women return home for their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference home opener against Norfolk State University on Thursday, March 8 at 2 p.m. The contest is the last home match for the Hawks until late March, as the Hawks are set to play seven consecutive road matches following the match against the Spartans.
