Final Stats

MONTCLAIR, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to George Washington on Sunday at the Montclair Country Club in Montclair, Va. The loss is the second of the weekend for the women, who lost to St. Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday. The women were swept in both singles and doubles play against the Colonials.

UMES (0-2) saw its top four women all lose in singles play. The George Washington (7-2) lineup was too strong for the group as freshman Reine Fowajuh (Wilmington, Del.) and senior Valentina Collazos (Cali, Colombia) lost at No. 1 and No. 2, before freshman Jasmine Jennings (Halifax, Va.) and senior Kenesha Abrams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) fell in the final two spots. All four were defeated by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Fowajuh teamed up with Collazos and the pair lost 8-0. The result was the same for UMES at No. 2 doubles, where Abrams and Jennings fell 8-0 as well.

UMES will take off nearly two weeks before they return to action. The Lady Hawks are scheduled to travel to Morgan State on Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m.
