PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Freshman Reine Fowajuh (Wilmington, Del.) picked up one point at No. 1 singles, but it was all the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s tennis team would muster, as the team fell to Delaware State, 5-0, in its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener. The women lost each of their singles matches by scores of 6-0, while both doubles lost 8-0. With the loss, the Lady Hawks drop to 0-3, while Delaware State moves to 4-3.

Fowajuh tallied the lone UMES point at No. 1 singles, where she lost 6-0, 6-1. Jasmine Jennings was disposed at No. 2 after consecutive 6-0 scores, while senior Kenesha Abrams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) lost by default at No. 3. Senior Valentina Collazos (Cali, Colombia) concluded singles play with two losses at fourth singles.

Abrams and Fowajuh teamed up to lose 8-0 at first doubles, while Jennings and Collazos lost by the same at No. 2 doubles.

The women’s tennis team looks to break into the win column in their next match as the Lady Hawks play Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m., at Morgan State.
