EMMITSBURG, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s tennis team lost a 7-0 decision to Mount St. Mary’s University this past Wednesday. The women were swept in singles and doubles play by the Mountaineers to record their 10th loss of the year.

UMES (0-10) saw its first three players post points in singles play against Mount St. Mary’s (8-5). Senior Solana McMillan (Teaneck, N.J.), junior Shamara McKenzie (Neptune, N.J.) and sophomore Arshelle Jackson (Easton, Md.) all fell in 6-1, 6-0 decisions. The other three UMES singles performers all lost by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

The Hawks were competitive in doubles play, especially at No. 1 doubles. The team of McMillan and McKenzie scored two points in an 8-2 loss, while Jackson and Belt notched one point in a loss at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Raveena Sharma (Fruitland, Md.) and senior Anna Katenta (Germantown, Md.) finished the day with one point at third-doubles.

The maroon and gray return to action on Saturday, March 24 at 12 p.m., with a matchup at Loyola (Md.).
