PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - For the second time in eight days, senior Solana McMillan (Teaneck, N.J.) won at No. 1 singles, but the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's tennis team would drop both ends of a double header to Hampton University on Saturday. The team lost the first match, 6-1, before falling 4-0 in the second.

UMES (1-15, 0-5 MEAC) opened up the conference match by losing each game of the doubles portion. McMillan jumpstarted UMES with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at top singles, before junior Shamara McKenzie (Neptune, N.J.) was edged out 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.

The Hawks concluded singles play with eight consecutive 6-0 losses.

The second match saw the Hawks lose four games in singles play. McMillan played well at No. 1 again, but fell 8-2 to Tabita Daolio. McKenize won one game at No.2, while sophomore Enjoli Simmons was swept at No. 3. Junior Paula Vilas (Santo Domingo, Dom. Republic) played in her second match of the season for the Hawks and won two games at fourth singles.

The Hawks will conclude the regular season on Wednesday, April 11, when the women travel to Bowie State for a 1 p.m. matchup.
