Sept. 5, 2005 NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) couldn't seem to get on track this weekend at the season opening Western N.Y. Invitational, dropping four matches to falL to 0-4 on the season. The last of which came to Niagara University 3-0. The Hawks were led by Holiday Eller who notched a team high five kills. Likica Grceva added seven digs and four kills to the effort. Adora Luster and Leah Amundson also had four kills apiece. The Purple Eagles surprised the Hawks in the first two games taking them by scores of 30-18 and 30-14 respectively. Stephanie Hopkins did most of the damage for Niagara with 13 kills while teammates Erin Graham and Michelle LeSouder had 11 kils each. In game three the Hawks came fighting back tying the score at 25 all after three straight Eller kills. It was not to be however, as a pair of kills and a service ace by Hopkins would clinch the win, 30-25. UMES looks to get in the win column this week against as they travel to Norfolk State University to take on the Spartans in their first conference match of the season.
