NORFOLK, VA. - Sophomore Likica Grceva (Natick, Mass./Natick H.S.) totaled a match-high 17 kills to help the visiting Lady Hawks to a 3-2 (22-30, 30-23, 27-30, 30-22, 15-13) defeat of Norfolk State in a non-conference match on Tuesday night.

UMES (1-4, 0-0 MEAC) also received contributions from freshman Adora Luster (Woodbridge, Va./Osbourn Park H.S.), who had 15 kills and three digs, as well as senior captain Eriel Jeffery (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley) who totaled 12 kills and seven digs. Stephanie Braxton (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass H.S.) chipped in with a match-high 17 digs.

Amanda Johnson led the Spartans (2-5) with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Chanel Barnes added 11 kills. Afryea Allen and Rachel Weatherspoon notched 16 and 12 digs, respectively, for Norfolk State.

The Lady Hawks return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 13, when they travel to Hampton, Va. to battle the Pirates in a 6 p.m. contest.
