PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) volleyball team dropped their second contest of the Hawk Challenge Friday evening, falling to the Manhattan Jaspers 3-1 (30-19, 26-30, 30-22, 30-21). Manhattan (5-10) took the first game from the Lady Hawks 30-19 but dropped the second 30-26. The Jaspers jumped out to an 8-4 lead in game three en route to the 30-22 victory, and later went on to close out the fourth game 30-21. Three Hawks posted double digit dig totals in freshmen Yael Rozner (Haifa, Israel), Holiday Eller (Minnetonka, Minn.) and junior Stephanie Braxton (Upper Marlboro, Md.). Rozner and Braxton each recorded 10 digs while Eller had a team high 13. Eller also added a team high 11 kills while senior captain Eriel Jeffery (Highland, Calif.) and junior Melanie Durimel (Neuilly sur Marne, France) each finished with seven. UMES (3-14) will play Wagner tomorrow afternoon in their final matchup of the Hawk Challenge, facing off against the Seahawks in a 1:30 p.m. decision.
